The condition of the courts had reached a stage where they were no longer suitable for netball competitions.

Specialist court construction company, Court Craft was called on to rebuild the affected courts. The work involved removal of old asphalt, followed by preparation of a supporting road base structure, new asphalt and a final layer of green Plexipave Netball surface.

Following excavation of the old asphalt surfaces, preparation for the new courts involved laying down 200 cubic metres of road base. A 5,000 Litre capacity watercart from TWS Hire was called in to perform the task of keeping the road base wet as part of the levelling and compaction process.

Court Craft selected the TWS Hire watercart because it was rated as ‘car licence’ and authorised for operation by any of their staff with a current drivers’ licence. The vehicle was also small enough for easy manoeuvrability on the site. Tank refills were carried out by using the supplied standpipe connected to the water main connection point located in the street adjacent to the court site.

“Court Craft appreciated that the 5000 L watercart was able to get the job done safely and within the prescribed time”, said TWS Hire’s Bill Bastian. “All our late-model water carts are delivered to site complete with full operational instructions, up-to-date regulatory and service records, fully serviced and ready to go to work”, he said.

About Court Craft

Court Craft was formed in 1977 and was taken over by the present management in 1986. Court Craft builds a wide variety of sporting installations both indoor and outdoor plus general outdoor environments. This includes installations such as hockey fields, tennis courts, school ground constructions, netball courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, bowls greens, sport fields, cricket pitches, golf, playgrounds, volleyball courts, badminton courts. Court Craft carries out all aspects of a project from planning, Council submissions, construction of facilities, clubhouses and amenities, lighting systems and landscaping.

PRODUCTIVITY AND SAFETY SHOULD BE AUTOMATIC

5uhr7

News

500 litre watercarts

Car licence watercarts

dry hire watercarts

watercart hire

watercart rental

watercarts NSW

watercarts sydney
<guid

AECOM is undertaking this program in partnership with a number of Aboriginal persons and organisations.

“Wet sieving is the most effective way of ensuring we get the highest yield of artefacts. We run excavated sediment through 3 mm gauge sieves”, said Dr Andrew McLaren, AECOM’s Senior Archaeologist.

A TWS Hire 10,000 litre watercart with a diesel pump feeds water into a two-inch hose which runs into a built-for-purpose manifold with multiple garden hose connections for wet sieving. The equipment enables the AECOM field team to effectively sieve sediments from the salvage excavations being undertaken.

“The area being excavated is rich in artefacts, attesting to repeated use by Aboriginal people over a long period of time”. Recovered artefacts consist exclusively of flaked stone artefacts, with material excavated to date considered to be of ‘Middle to Late Bondaian’ antiquity (c.4,000 BP to European contact).”

“In these open area excavations, we seek to recover statistically viable cultural lithic assemblages which can be used to address a range of research questions concerning past Aboriginal settlement and subsistence strategies on a local and sub-regional scale.

About AECOM

AECOM is a global network of experts working with clients, communities and colleagues to develop and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most complex challenges. Delivering clean water and energy; building iconic skyscrapers; planning new cities; restoring damaged environments; connecting people and economies with roads, bridges, tunnels and transit systems. Smaller sites may have issues with storing equipment while waiting for deployment.

Situations like these that prompted TWS Hire to introduce a watercart option that enables site managers to comply with dust suppression or road cleaning regulations or general water supply, without the need to hire a full size watercart.

“Now you don’t have to hire equipment that that may be larger than necessary for a water supply task, regardless of how small the work site may be. Apart from the cost factor, equipment that is larger than needed for a job takes up too much space and in doing so, introduces inefficiency that is counter-productive to the contractor’s task”, said TWS Hire’s Bill Bastian.

The towable watercart is equipped with a 1,000 litre capacity tank and the same high performance Honda pump as supplied on all TWS Hire watercarts. The trailer is slightly wider than a car or utility, making it ideal for applications such as smaller landscape construction projects accessed by narrow driveways, or other sites that may present an access challenge for larger vehicles.

Cost effective

“We have customers who find it difficult justify the full cost of hiring a full-sized 4,500 litre capacity watercart. For these smaller sites, a trailer-mounted system is ideal for their project and the lower cost of equipment rental enables them to optimise their profit.

“Space is also an issue on occasions and the smaller footprint of a trailer on a construction site can be a real bonus in terms of space sharing with other vehicles. The trailer can be parked out of the way and simply attached to any vehicle with a tow bar when water is needed on the site.

Fully equipped

The high-performance Honda is sufficiently powerful to enable up to 10 garden hoses to be simultaneously fed from the tank, while two independently operated rear-mounted fan sprays may be activated individually or in unison.

The unit is also ideal for connecting pressure cleaners as the pump is equipped with a recycling system that keeps water circulating through the pump even when a washer is being used intermittently.

Trailers may be towed by any vehicle with a standard tow-hitch and are equipped with override brakes that don’t require any ancillary braking system from the tow vehicle.

Safety and regulatory compliance

The trailers are fully road registered in New South Wales at two tonnes and are worksite safety compliant, fitted with LED lights, reflective taping and a tested fire extinguisher. Full insurance and compliance certification is provided, along with risk assessment documentation.

Bill Bastian said the addition of this equipment cements TWS Hire’s reputation as a comprehensive hire of water delivery solutions”, “We now have watercarts all in all capacities to meet every known construction industry and landscape or water application.”

CLEAN ROADS FOR DARLING SQUARE CONSTRUCTION SITE

5uhr7

News

TWS

TWS Hire

watercart dry hire

watercart hire

watercart sydney

watercarts
<guid

The first stage of the $2.5 billion redevelopment of Sydney’s Darling Harbour will add seven towers housing 1400 apartments.

Constant movement of construction vehicles on and off the site means that adjacent busy vehicle carriageways had to be kept clear of muddy soil being deposited on the road surface. Contractors, Christie Civil Pty Ltd is using a compact water cart of 4,500 litres capacity to clean the roads twice daily.

Christie Civil’s site engineer, Royce Choe said “We needed a compact watercart that was small enough to take up minimum space on the site and could be operated by any of our site workers holding a standard car licence.

“Manoeuvrability is important for us. There is not a lot of space to move, as well as limited space available to park equipment while not in use. We also had to ensure the watercart is fully maintained with all documentation and reports that meet the requirements of the site safety regulators.

The Watercart was provided by TWS hire. “Christie Civil is typical of our construction customers who need the latest equipment that’s reliable, fully equipped for the task and will meet the most stringent requirements of site inspections’’ said TWS Hire’s general manager, Bill Bastian.

“Rather than continually upgrade older trucks, our policy is to regularly add new equipment that will more than satisfy the needs of our customers. We’re offering the latest generation equipment that is totally site compliant.

<img

Under these circumstances it makes sense to ensure all our vehicles have been maintained diligently in top condition”, he said.

About Christie Civil Pty Ltd<br
