J. A. Bradshaw Civil Construction has dry hired a 4,500 litre capacity watercart from TWS Hire for dust control and base compaction works at its construction site at Macarthur in Sydney’s south western suburbs.

The Macarthur Station Upgrade and Interchange project involves the construction of a fourth platform at Macarthur Station, an easy access upgrade including new lifts, a bus/rail interchange adjacent to the station and a new 450 space commuter car park.
The project involves landscaping along the western boundary of the car park and associated road works to provide access to the new car park. The watercart is also being used for road works on Menangle that involve the construction of a roundabout and a footpath. Work commenced in December last year and is due for completion in December 2010.
Dust control procedures and water needed for moisture content for base stabilisation is being provided by a compact 4,500 litre capacity water truck from TWS Hire and driven by Bradshaw’s personnel as needed.

“Water availability on demand is essential to keep the earthworks on schedule. By using water trucks that can be operated by anyone with a car licence, we can use our site personnel to deliver the water immediately it is needed. As well as this flexibility, cost is reduced by eliminating the need for a specially licensed operator if using a larger vehicle”, Russell said.
